London resin driveways — what people ask

For questions specific to your borough — planning authority, conservation areas, access — see your area page.

Ask us anything
How much does a resin bound driveway cost in London?

Resin bound driveway costs in London typically range from £80 to £130 per square metre for a full installation, depending on base condition, area size, aggregate choice, and access. Larger driveways generally cost less per square metre than smaller ones. The site visit is essential — we assess the base, take accurate measurements, and provide a written quote before anything is agreed. We do not quote per square metre over the phone without seeing the site.

Do I need planning permission for a resin bound driveway in London?

In most cases, no. Resin bound is a fully permeable surface, which means it satisfies the national requirement for sustainable drainage on front driveways. Under permitted development rules, a permeable front driveway does not require planning permission. However, if your property is listed, in a conservation area subject to an Article 4 direction, or in the City of Westminster, additional consent may be required. We advise on the planning position for your specific property and borough at the site visit.

How long does installation take?

A typical residential driveway in London takes two to three days — one day for base preparation or repair work if required, and one to two days for the resin bound layer, edging, and finish. Larger areas, complex bases, or sites with restricted access take longer. We give you a specific programme with your written quote. The surface is suitable for foot traffic the following morning and for vehicles after 24 to 48 hours depending on weather and aggregate specification.

Which areas of London do you cover?

We currently cover Kensington, Chelsea, Notting Hill, Paddington, Hammersmith, Brent, Ealing, and Westminster, with plans to expand into further boroughs. If your area is not listed, contact us — we consider projects across Greater London on a case-by-case basis depending on location and project size.

What guarantee do you offer on resin bound driveways?

We provide a written guarantee with every installation. The specifics depend on the system used and base condition confirmed at the site visit. A properly installed resin bound driveway on a sound, well-prepared base should perform reliably for 15 years or more with normal maintenance — a weekly sweep and an occasional jet-wash.

Can resin bound be laid over my existing driveway?

Often yes. If your existing concrete or tarmac base is structurally sound, drains correctly, and has no significant cracking or movement, we can prime and overlay at around 18 to 22mm. If the base is failing — cracking, sinking, or holding water — we address that first. Laying a quality surface over a failing base is a waste of money and we will not do it. The site visit determines which approach is right.
